The Klein Independent School District offers this Advanced Placement course in microeconomics designed to prepare students to score successfully on the College Board's Advanced Placement Microeconomics exam. Consequently, this course offers a curriculum at the freshman college level of study. Students certainly find the subject matter challenging, but it's a good foretaste of what is to come for our college-bound students. The teacher recommends the course for all college-bound students. Students will use three differing texts, presenting an intriguing mix of perspectives on economics. The main text is Economics by McConnell & Brue. That text is supplemented by Dr. Paul Heyne's Microecoomics, which presents the micro topics of his landmark textbook entitled The Economic Way of Thinking. To further challenge the students to think beyond the ordinary, students read selected parts of Dr. Steven Landsburg's The Armchair Economist. Microeconomics focuses on the economic decisions of single decision making units, be they high school students or multinational corporations.
