Social Studies

Spinnning Globe

"We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time."

- T.S. Eliot, "Little Gidding"

The Klein Oak Social Studies Department seeks to cultivate effective democratic citizenship, civic virtue, and interpersonal skills. Typically, students take a course in world geography or world history in the freshman year. Then in the sophomore or junior year they take a course in U.S. History. Finally, students must take capstone courses in both government and economics. These courses are required by the State of Texas. Students may also choose among several electives. Advanced Social Science Problems, sociology, and psychology are popular electives at Klein Oak.
