Spring Final Exam Exemption Rules

Final Examination Exemptions Students in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 will be eligible for a second semester final examination exemption in all subjects if they meet the bulleted requirements below, receive passing grades the first semester in the class for which they are seeking an exemption, and have a second semester grade of 80 or above in that class.

  • Have no more than six (6) absences in the school year in the class for which an exemption is being requested.

  • Have no more than three (3) absences in the spring semester in the semester class for which an exemption is being requested.

  • Any student qualifying for an exemption must attend the class during the final exam in order to maintain the exemption unless the student has less than six (6) or three (3) absences as noted above.

  • If a student qualifying for an exemption and required to attend the final exam does not attend class, the student will receive a “0” on the exam until the exam is made up.

  • Have not been placed in the in-school suspension program, alternative education classes, or suspended out of school in either the first or second semester.

  • Have maintained a conduct grade of "E," "S," or “N” during both the first and second semesters in the class for which they are seeking exemption.

A student’s laptop and textbook records for all subjects must be clear before any final exam exemption is awarded.

Any student qualifying for an exemption may take the final exam if he/she believes it will  improve his/her semester average.
